2026 February 15 - Irises From the Past

The older irises hold much beauty as well as history in the development of today’s iris. They are a treasure deserving of preservation.
The February program will be a presentation created by Dennis Tieden of the Historic Iris Preservation Society (HIPS). HIPS is a non-profit section of AIS. The AIS is concerned about the modern cultivars whereas HIPS’ main goal is the older cultivars that are disappearing at an alarming rate. HIPS has branches/members all over the world. Irises become historic when they are 30 years old from their date of introduction.
